Rock 'n' Roll Fantasies

INTERVIEW

Alicubi

What was your inspiration for starting the list?

REO Angel Rose

Well, the true inspiration came from reading a couple stories from a friend of mine that were fictional short stories about her favorite rock band, which were purely her fantasies of what it would be like to be a member of the band. It was very interesting. I, too, have written short stories about my favorite band, not so much fantasy as much as just enjoying placing them in to suspenseful or mystery style situations that they are the heroes of. Aside from that, I had read poems, short stories, and also more romantic writings from fans who'd written with their favorite rock 'n' roll stars in mind, and each of these fans had said there was no way they could feel comfortable sharing something like this publicly. So I got to thinking about a way to allow fans to write freely, sharing their short stories, poems, reviews, experiences, and fantasies, either anonymously or not, and this is how the Rock 'n' Roll Fantasies list got started.

Alicubi

What do you hope to accomplish with it?

REO Angel Rose

I hope to allow fans to not be ashamed to share their fantasies, dreams, goals, and experiences, no matter how innocent or romantic. Fantasies are a very healthy part of life, and can even be a positive key factor in the wellness of our emotional and mental selves. Everyone needs a release, and for many writing is that release. For others, fantasizing is that release. Why not bring them both together, and add to that the music and musicians that feed our emotions?

Alicubi

What don't you want it to turn into?

REO Angel Rose

I don't want this to turn into just another fan chat list, a quiet list that everyone is afraid to post to, or strictly an erotic story site. Fantasies come in all kinds, from normal life goals to sexual desires. There is nothing worse than an outlet offered for noble purpose that ends up unused, abused, or even worse, ignored.

Alicubi

For the purpose of giving our readers an idea of what they may expect from your list, will you tell me one of your rock n' roll fantasies?

REO Angel Rose

I shared this one with the list just recently. Back when I was in college, many many moons back--okay, in 1984--I was in a rock band that toured, playing little frat parties, private parties, school dances, etc. We never amounted to anything, but I really enjoyed being "on the road" with that little nobody band. I have been friends for nearly 16 years with one of the greatest bands I've ever known musically and personally, REO Speedwagon. There have been so many times that I wished I could see touring as they know it to be. They had once experienced the kind of touring I had known in my little band when they were a little nobody band back in the later '60s and early '70s. So, one of my greatest fantasies is to have the opportunity to travel with REO Speedwagon for a few weeks, to see what they see, hear what they hear, in some cases do what they do, and be a virtual "fly on the wall." This fantasy will probably never happen in a million years, but it's one that still charges me up, and is a great mood lifter when I'm feeling like the world's caving in.

Alicubi

How have things with the list been going so far?

REO Angel Rose

Right now, the list is still very new, and only a handful have really posted any fantasies at all. I'm hoping this will change soon. I can't be the only one to write stuff for the list, so I'm hoping that soon we will have more subscribers who would be willing to contribute.
